Sanlorenzo and Bluegame continue to push the boundaries of traditional yachting, creating vessels that not only deliver extraordinary performance but do so sustainably. Cutting-edge technology is at the heart of three groundbreaking projects: the Sanlorenzo 50 Steel superyacht, the Bluegame BGH, and the Life Mystic project, all redefining the yachting experience and ushering in a new era of responsible boating.
Sanlorenzo 50 Steel: A Masterpiece of Sustainable Innovation
The Sanlorenzo 50 Steel marks a crucial advancement in sustainable yachting, featuring a fuel cell system with a green methanol reformer. This advanced technology powers the onboard hotel systems without harmful emissions, drastically reducing environmental impact and promoting eco-friendly cruising.
The 50 Steel's eight decks offer expansive, unobstructed interiors that seamlessly blend with the yacht's elegant exterior, maintaining Sanlorenzo’s distinctive style. The Ocean Lounge at sea level and interiors curated by Piero Lissoni exemplify the perfect coexistence of functionality and sophistication, making this superyacht a pioneer in sustainable yachting.
Bluegame BGH: Sustainability and Innovation at the America’s Cup
The Bluegame BGH represents the future of multihull motor yachts. Developed as a prototype for the 37th America’s Cup, this hydrogen-powered chase boat is designed to reach a speed of 50 knots and a range of 180 miles. The collaboration with New York Yacht Club American Magic allowed Bluegame to tackle an unprecedented technical challenge, assembling an elite team with America's Cup experience to create a hydrogen boat poised to revolutionize the industry.
This project underscores Bluegame's commitment to leveraging technology to minimize environmental impact, proving that cutting-edge yachting can go hand in hand with environmental responsibility.
Life Mystic: The First Bi-Fuel Superyacht Using Green Methanol by 2027
Sanlorenzo has announced another groundbreaking project: Life Mystic (Methanol for Yachting Sustainable energy Transition applied to Internal Combustion engines), developed in collaboration with Nanni Industries and Ranieri Tonissi. Unveiled at the La Spezia headquarters in Italy, this project aims to deliver the first bi-fuel superyacht powered by green methanol by 2027. The project, co-funded by the European Union with 60% of the budget from the LIFE program for Circular Economy and Quality of Life, has a total budget of over €4.8 million and a duration of 54 months.
Life Mystic is led by Sanlorenzo and aims to test engines and generators powered by a combination of diesel and green methanol, with significant expected environmental benefits:
Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions: 150 tons of CO2eq per year.
Reduction in primary fossil energy consumption: 700 MWh per year.
Reduction in air quality contamination: 630 kg per year.
A Steadfast Commitment to a Sustainable Future
Sanlorenzo and Bluegame are proving that the future of yachting is not just about performance and aesthetics but also about a deep respect for the environment. With the 50 Steel, the Bluegame BGH, and the Life Mystic project, both brands are committed to creating vessels that serve as examples of how advanced technology can support more conscious navigation.
